Subject:N. Dashwood Pl. Meridian, Idaho - Alpine Pointe Residents
Dear Clerk,
Please send this to the Mayor, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Meridian City Council. Thank you so
much.
To the Honorable Robert Simison, Mayor,
To the Members of the Meridian City Council, and
To the Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission, and
To the Staff of the City of Meridian Planning Department:
In reference to the Delano Subdivision AZ, CPAM, PP H-2019-0027 and the updated plat submitted recently by
Boll Cook LLC.
(We want to add our testimony to all submitted letters from our HOA and from Malissa Bernard.)
We purchased our home in Alpine Pointe on the corner of Dashwood and Wainwright at 4078 N. Dashwood Pl.
in August of 2012. We were so excited to move to Meridian, Idaho and live in the neighborhood that we
carefully selected due to the quiet, peaceful environment.
Along with all those who live in Meridian, we enjoy the small-town feel that is so important to our citizens. As
we've watched the rapid growth take place all around us, we have been grateful for the respectful consideration
given to maintain a full quality of life for every family.
Sadly, with this Delano proposal, our peaceful neighborhood, which we have all worked so hard to achieve, is
now being threatened. By opening up our cul-de-sac, Dashwood Place, it will quickly create a fast cut-through
to get to:
Fast Eddy's Lube and Car Wash
Earl of Sandwich
Kohl's
Dick's Sporting Good
Walgreens
Verizon
Qdoba
U.S. Bank
Panera Bread
Wingers Restaurant
Hobby Lobby
DownEast Home and Clothing
Shoe Carnival
Maurices
1
350-unit apartment complex
...and too many more to list
As we carefully listened to Mr. Conger at meetings, he mentioned the bad cut-through traffic that would occur
as a result of his development. This was a slip-up on his part and he quickly started talking about good cut-
through traffic.
Turning Dashwood Place into the collector road for all the businesses we've listed above (and others), will make
it absolutely unsafe and reduce the quality of life for those who own homes and live on the the street of
Dashwood Place as well as all residents of Alpine Pointe.
We respectfully ask that you deny this application as it stands. Please consider looking for a better solution to
resolve the concerns and frustrations of all the people who have frequently asked to be heard by the developer.
A solution that we have repeatedly asked for is to connect as an emergency bike/pedestrian lane in
perpetuity. This will facilitate what the developer needs to continue his project and satisfy the homeowners of
Alpine Pointe.
Thank you so much for all that you do for each of us.
Sincerely,
Darren & Lynette LaMay
