To the Members of the Meridian City Council, and
To the Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission:
RE: Delano Project
The Planning and Zoning Commission has a meeting scheduled Thursday March 191h. On the agenda is
the Delano Subdivision AZ, CPAM, PP H-2019-0027. We strongly request the Planning and Zoning
Commission postpone any decision on this matter until such a time as the residents of Alpine Pointe and
surrounding neighborhoods can be present to present their concerns about this development.
With the current concerns about the COVID-19 virus, it has been recommended that people isolate
themselves as much a possible. We are sure that many residents of Alpine Pointe neighborhood would
feel uncomfortable attending a public meeting.Those residents also have strongly held objections to
certain aspects of the Delano project.We believe it would be a grave disservice to the community if a
decision was made on this project with limited representation of the public's concerns.We think that it
may give the appearance of a decision"made behind closed doors". That is not the impression the
Commission should be making.
We understand that letters can and have been submitted. We also understand that we can view the
Commission proceedings live on YouTube. But that is not the same and we do not believe it has the
same impact as presenting our concerns in public,face to face to the Commission.
We know that the City has been dealing with this development proposal for more than a year.
Postponing a decision on this matter until a future date is not unreasonable. Members of the
Commission are aware that all last year decisions on this development were postponed until future
dates.We strongly urge the Commission to reschedule a decision on the Delano project.
