Strategic Planning The City of Meridian has requested feedback regarding the annexation of 55.1
acres at 2160 E. Lake Hazel Road for the proposed Lavender Heights Subdivision,
Ada County Commissioners which will include 187 single-family homes and 48 multi-family units. Ada
Diana Lachiondo,First District
Rick Visser,Second District County is in support of the application due to the proximity of the site to public
Kendra Kenyon, Third District services and infrastructure. Future residents will have nearby access to existing
parks, schools, commercial services and employment opportunities.
The application is in compliance with the Ada County Comprehensive Plan as
Goal 2.2f encourages residential development to occur at urban densities within
Areas of City Impact where urban public facilities are available. The proposed
internal pathway system, which includes a 10' wide path along the Farr Lateral
and a connection to Lake Hazel Road complies with Goal 4.7a, which supports
the creation of a safe network of pedestrian and bicycle pathways connecting
neighborhoods with parks, schools, open spaces and commercial areas.
The proposed subdivision is supported by the Meridian Comprehensive Plan, as
adopted by the County, as it designates the northern portion of the site as Medium
Density Residential, and the southern portion, in which the multi-family housing
is proposed, as Medium-High Density Residential. The proposed stub street to the
property to the east complies with Goals 3.03.03E and 3.03.03C, which encourage
pedestrian and roadway connections between subdivisions to promote greater
connectivity. The proposed 5.7 acres of common open space, which will include a
pool and walking paths, is supported by Goal 3.07.02F as it calls for common
areas to be provided within subdivisions, and with Goal 2.01.01E which
encourages opportunities for physical activities to be provided. The proposal to
include multi-family housing along Lake Hazel Road is compatible with Goal
3.06.02G, as it encourages high-density development along major transportation
corridors.
Thank you for this opportunity to provide feedback.
Sincerely',
0 I 1 1 la-dam¢.
