HomeMy WebLinkAboutAugust Press ReleaseJuly/August 2013 Press Release 7/8/13 Entrepreneur and business development executive announces he’ll be running for the Meridian City Council’s New Two Year Term Seat #5 Drew Wahlin’s intention is not to run against City Hall, he stated “they’ve done an exceptional job over the past 10 years!”, but to provide representation in a part of town that does not have a resident council member-south Meridian (south of I 84). Drew is fine with electing council members at-large, but there still needs to be a balance—and that’s why he’s running. Wahlin stated that “he has a long history of successful Regional and Idaho business development and strategic planning experience that qualifies him for an active roll in guiding the City’s future: from all aspects of real estate development; to manufacturing; to retail; to .com; to public and private finance; to education; to small business development; to Fortune 50 corporate strategic planning; to non-profit organizations; and, to seeking well paying employment opportunities in the Meridian community in which he has resided for the past 8+years.” He is a long-term resident of Idaho. Drew further provided that if elected to the Council he would be focused on “taking charge of Meridian’s future by seeking a policy of federalism & strategic diversification of its economic ecology.” Wahlin comes from a history of determination “my Great-grand Mother Romney pulled a hand cart in the late 1800’s with 5 small children from Salt Lake City to Juarez, Mexico all by herself and the five children.” Drew is seeking community input on what the community feels are the biggest challenges ahead for Meridian's future, he is available for suggestions, dialogue and/or comments.
