nd Use Map change in zoning for Locust View Heights Subdivision
I re writing to objectto the Future La
from low density residentialto mixed use and to separation of the northern edge of the subdivision
fromthe rest of the land.
I have responded on three previousoccasionstothe request for input, once in February aftera road was
proposed, again in August, and before the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting in October. I have
lived at 2220 E Continental Drive since 1972, am now 80 years old, and care fora disabled son of a
Vietnamveteran. Living on this affordable acreage in this subdivision enabled me to raise three children
and teach at Boise State University for 27 years. The proposed plan jeopardizes my vision and that of a
majorityof my neighborsforour properties.
That vision is based on our success in achieving a unique, affordable, congenial, healthy, safe, and
sustainable community over a period of almost 50 years. Meridian has changed around us; we are not
threatened bythat so much as we more appreciate whatwe have created here. People depend upon

safe, pursue their hobbies, care for their animals,
By contrast, a mixed use zone opens the doorfor major change in land usage, cancelling our hopesfora
continuation of opportunity for others to experience this lifestyle as well as casting our future property
values into doubt. Although the claim is made that such change would be likely to occur far in the
future, we are aware of the pressures
that exist and that city government may be unable to resist. We
