Subject:DevCo, Delano Development (November 12, 2019)
To the Honorable Mayor Tammy de Weerd
and Meridian City Council Members,
We are in agreement regarding Malissa Bernard's written testimony regarding the proposed DevCo, Delano
development and would like to add our own testimony at this time.
Our home is located on the corner of Dashwood and Wainwright at 4078 N. Dashwood Pl., Meridian, Idaho 83646. In
2012, we carefully chose our home and development to live in because it presented the small-town feel that is so
important to us and to all thos e who live in Meridian. Meridian has always been a city where families come first and that
is what makes it such a great place to live.
We are grateful for the careful and strategic planning that has gone into making sure that our city grows responsibly
with parks and open space to maintain the well-being of Meridian and all of its citizens.
As we have attended meetings and carefully listened to Mr. Conger present the DevCo, Delano development, there
where many concerns that surfaced regarding high-density with no open space. His proposed development will create
huge issues regarding traffic, and will force the people to cut through existing neighborhoods and highly disrupt the
quality of life which existing homeowners have worked so hard to establish. Dashwood Place currently has eight homes
on it where three people are in wheel chairs and one person has Down Syndrome. Turning Dashwood into the collector
road for the businesses located near the intersection of Eagle Road and Ustick, as well as the 350 new apartments, and
Fast Eddy's will make it absolutely unsafe for those citizens who live on Dashwood.
At the developer/homeowner meetings, we have suggested ways to maintain our neighborhood, keep us safe, and
continue to grow. The DevCo Company has refused any suggestions, and told us that they will not be changing anything.
Their biggest concern is to only maximize their profit.
We respectfully ask that you deny this application until careful strategic planning of the entire area can be established
and the proper road improvements are in place to handle the traffic.
Sincerely,
Darren & Lynette LaMay
