Subject: Public Hearing Comment - Comprehensive Plan, City Council, November 19th 2019
Hello,
I'm not sure if the comment that I made for the P&Z review of the draft Comp Plan automatically gets forwarded to the
City Council's review. In case it doesn't carry over, please see my comment below.
Thanks,
-Steve

Subject: Public Hearing Comment - Comprehensive Plan, P&Z, Oct 17 2019
To whom it may concern,
I would like to submit the following public hearing comment regarding the draft Comprehensive Plan that will be
discussed by the Planning & Zoning Commission on October 17tH
My comment is regarding one of the Transportation ACTION items, Item 6.01.02N, which discusses the
appropriateness of roundabouts. As written, it certainly indicates an anti -roundabout bias that I don't think the City
should have. I recommend that this action item either be deleted,_or replaced with a pro -roundabout statement, since
both national and local data show roundabouts are the safest form of intersection control for all road users, including
bicyclists and pedestrians. At the very least, the action item should be modified to be silent on intersection type, and to
encourage City staff to work with ACHD to find the best intersection configuration in each location, balancing the needs
of all users.
Thank you,
Stephen Lewis
