Subject: Linder/Amity Development
Dear Toll Brothers, Meridian City Council, and Planning & Zoning,
As one of the residents impacted by the proposed development on Amity and Linder, we have
many concerns regarding the new development and would like to propose several modifications
to the plan presented at the neighborhood meeting. The current proposed plan has roads
dividing private property, has a design that is incompatible with the existing rural neighborhoods,
very little open space, and no community amenities.
First and foremost, the proposed road running North-South on the west side of the development
exiting to Amity (see attachment) runs right through the middle of our private property, NOT
along property lines. It divides our property into 2 parts, separating our home from our pasture,
2
arena, and horses. We use ALL of our property daily and having a road right through the middle
is not safe for our family, our children who play outside, or our livestock. I believe there are
much better options for the proposed road that would still allow residential traffic to exit the
development.
Second, please respect that this large development is located in a rural area of residents who all
have 5-10 acre properties and enjoy the open space and surrounding farmland. The proposed
development does not fit in with the surrounding rural area, does not respect the identity of any
of the existing neighborhoods, contains very little open space, and no community areas. The
transition from the numerous proposed houses along the fenceline is such an abrupt change
from the neighboring residences that it disrupts the rural atmosphere greatly.
We ask that you consider making the following changes to improve the proposed plan:
• Move collector roads so they are not dividing private property
• Create a compatible transition by planning large parcels with acreage as well as a
border of lush landscaping around the perimeter of the development
• Respect our view sheds through generous open space and single-story homes
• Include large setbacks appropriate to the existing rural neighborhood identities
• Create a visually appealing entrance congruent with the rural landscape
• Maintain the integrity of our neighborhoods by building unique, custom, high-quality
homes
We have every expectation that you will plan an equally pleasant neighborhood to co-exist with
the current residences. Please take our suggestions into thoughtful consideration to construct a
beautiful, compatible, rural development that Meridian and the existing neighborhood can be
proud of.
Thank you for your consideration.
Your neighbor,
