We vehemently oppose the construction of any maintenance building on or near the Cherry
Lane Golf Course Club House. The City's own website touts Meridian is a vibrant and
caring community that is a premier place to live, work, and raise a family. The Planning
and Zoning mission statement is to be an innovative planning team that advances quality
lifestyle and economy envisioned by our Comprehensive plan. Why would you want the city
golf course, used by locals and visitors, to be marred by an unsightly maintenance shed
near the clubhouse and our homes? Does living near a maintenance shed support Meridian's
mission to be a premier place to live or advance a quality lifestyle? It is very
disappointing the city would even consider this action.
The construction of any maintenance building will reduce property values in the nearby
subdivisions, cause additional traffic to the area, increase noise in the early morning
hours and throughout the day, obstruct homeowner's views, and look unsightly regardless of
the construction materials used and level of regular upkeep. A metal building would be the
worst possible choice, as it would be extremely unsightly to the
neighborhood. A maintenance building would increase the amount of land
used for buildings & parking and storage and reduce the greenery and beauty of the area.
We purchased a home on the golf course and near the clubhouse because the neighborhood was
complete and we could see the finished product, meaning there were no surprises like an
unsightly storage/maintenance building. How would you like your green golf course and
mountain view to be altered to a view of an unattractive, large, metal shed? I suspect if
this was near your home, you would not be supportive of the construction.
No maintenance building should be built near any residences, especially a well-established
subdivision like Ashford Greens.
