Dear Council Members:
Please reference the attached letter from the Boise Project Board of Control, jurisdictional irrigation
district for the Ten Mile Feeder Canal, stating their desire to have said canal remain open. The Federal
Bureau of Reclamation (BaR) also asserts jurisdiction over the Ten Mile Feeder CanaL Said canal
experiences sudden elevation drops and is approximately 20' wide by 3' deep, see attached photo. It is
difficult at best to secure BaR approval to pipe such a large open ditch.
Therefore, the applicant asks the City Council to waive City of Meridian Subdivision and Development
Ordinance Section 12-4-13, Piping of Ditches, for the Ten Mile Feeder CanaL Fencing will be
installed as shown on the Landscape Plan and/or as approved by the City.
Note that other ditches within the development will be piped in accordance with Section 12-4-13.

The Boise Project Board of Control is contracted to operate and mailltain this lateral. We
assert this federal easement 30 feet lIorth and 30 feet south of the lateral's centerline-
Whereas this area is for the operation and maintenance of our facility, no activity should
hinder our ability to do so It is in our opinion that this latera! will remain as an open
ditch-
