SUBJECT: H-2019-0021
PROJECT NAME: Pollard Sub/Central Valley Plaza
POLICE DEPARTMENT SUMMARY OF REPORT:
1. Police Response Time- The proposed Pollard Sub/Central Valley Plaza development application is
about 9.0 miles from the Meridian Police Department. The expected response times to this area in an
emergency is estimated at 5-7 minutes.
There is no statistical data to provide for this development at this time as this area is currently in Ada
County. The area surrounding this proposed development is seeing many approved projects just now
starting to come on line to the east and south of this location.
The Meridian Police Department expects calls for service to increase slowly over time in this area as this
project and other areas nearby are completed. With the planned road widening of 20/26 between
Highway 55 and Highway 16 in the next several years' traffic will increase in this area.
2. Accessibility — The police department has no issues with access to the proposed site as noted in the
applicant's development documents.
3. Resource needs — No additional resources are needed at this time. The police department already
services this area to the east.
4. Other comments- This proposed development is in the very northwest edge of Meridian City's impact
area and what is becoming a fast growing section of the City with expected large commercial
developments, office developments and housing developments over the next several years.
In addition, with several new schools coming on line in the area and a future Highway 16 expansion the
Meridian Police Department would have a strong need to have a satellite police station somewhere in this
geographic area in the future. This would reduce response times to this fast growing area.
The Meridian Police Department will support any and all TIS from ITD and ACHD to improve roadways,
intersections, pathways and sidewalks before the project if fully completed.
The Meridian Police Department would encourage pedestrian pathway connectivity between the different
proposed buildings so pedestrians do not have to walk through the parking lots creating vehicle vs.
pedestrian conflicts. In addition, the police department would like to see a pathway/sidewalks that
connects to the surrounding developments.
