My name is David A. Kline, I am 55 years old, I have been a resident of Meridian all ofmy
life. I have been in business for 35 years in Meridian. I have owned and operated my business at 727, 725
and 723 N. Main Street for the past 28 years.
While I am delighted to see new businesses and development in the Old Town Dimict. I
would like to ask the City Cmmcil to weight carefully the long tenn itnpact of allowing a variance for the
reduction inparkiug requirements.
I believe ample parking and convenience should hàVê'iíljiJBI cobsideratioo to 1raffic volume
and flow in planning our future growth of The Old Town District. Many of the existing businesses have
inadequate or no parking. The two bour parking limit is not mœitored or enforced. To allow further
concessions would hinder our future viability.
I am submitting two recent articles published in the Idaho Statesman outlining just a couple
oftbe inherent problems associated with planning parking in development. We in the Old Town Dimct
have the opportunity avoid sume of these problems by making responsible decisions and planning
guidelines now, setting a precedence for our future. In making our decisions lets not short change our
future. The viability of the dimct and its businesses are dependent upon our decisions. Each parcel should
be a stand alone entity in the dis1rict as a whole.
Thank You
