Malcolm MacCoy Dear MalcOlm MacCoy: I am writing to you in regards to one of the positions available on the Meridian Historical Society. Please consider me for one of the open positions. I believe I am qualified for this position because of my formal education and__training in the area of history. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education - majoring in social science and in history. Some of my teaching assi~onments include World History and Geography. My training and education have given me a good foundation in understanding history, but my personal feelings about history are as just important. History is not a passive discipline, but rather an active one. History is built bom the important actions of people fi.om our past. History is about the smaggles, sweat, tears, toil, and blood of men and women. A historian acts like a detective working not only to memorize important facts, but understand motivations and feelings of those involved. In short, history is a passion. The role of a historical society is not only to p.r_eserve the past, but to share their passion of history, and encourage others in the pursuit of historical understanding and preservation.
