For Renaissance Park I'm proposing a 16' high signifier piece that can be seen from a distance. Similar to plumage on a hat worn by scholars or actors of the Renaissance, these three tall feathers are an exuberant landmark for the park. Park visitors can also sit on a large throne near the playground and pretend to be royalty (and it would be an excellent spot for a selfie). A nearby interpretive sign would help visitors learn more about the Renaissance. These 3 elements would invite educational and interactive fun for Renaissance Park. These elements tie together with the themes of Renaissance, rich color, and cohesive feather imagery. Together they would provide the park with a distinct sense of place. The supports repeats the black feather base structure. C THRONE Park visitors can pretend they're in a position of power like Queen Elizabeth of the Renaissance. Or a parent can simply watch their child play on the playground and feel like royalty for part of their day. Made of steel, the colors will match other proposed park elements. A giant feather border adds a colorful element and a fancy royal crown sits at the top. ,NI) 9 • 1 ITEMIZED BUDGET: Materials and Fabrication for Signifier: $15,000 Includes aluminum panels, steel structure, powder coating, custom paint treatments for the feathers, and general assembly by Ken McCall.
