I'm sure you are all as tired of this as we are, debating once again something that could have, should have been settled long 212LO We live in Paramount. We support a Linder Village. But its original design was in such blatant disregard for Meridian's comprehensive plan and future land use map that we were appalled at the arrogance of the developer and surprised the city would even consider it. We bought our home here hoping, expecting, that something would be built in that space that was consistent with at least the spirit, if not the letter, of those plans. But you didn't approve it. You sent it back. Again and again. As a result we now have something that is much better. Not by a long shot the innovative, special place we had hoped for — a true "village" environment where we could work, shop, live, and play — but better than it was. Maybe it's close to being as good as we're going to get with this developer. We would ask just two things of city council, which would be neither difficult nor prohibitively expensive to implement: 1. Please consider the safety of Paramount residents. Eliminate any direct access to Linder Village from the heart of our neighborhood. This is currently planned to be Bergman Avenue, and it will encourage cut -through traffic through our local streets by drivers trying to avoid the congested main roads. If you absolutely must allow this, then at least require the developer to be responsible for effective traffic -calming measures, not just in the parcel under development but in streets that will be used to get there. And do please withhold any final approvals until DMG has a completed deal with Brighton to acquire property for the new collector road. Not an "agreement in principle." Signed, sealed, and delivered, please! We do not trust DMG and believe they would be happy if the deal fell through in order to facilitate Plan B, the traffic signal at Chinden & Bergman. 2. Please consider the quality of life of Paramount residents. WinCo demands it be allowed to operate 24/7 and take deliveries whenever they want. Other nearby businesses have been denied this request, as you well know. Why should WinCo expect special treatment? We personally don't care if someone needs a loaf of bread at 2 am. But please require, at the very least, that WinCo receive no deliveries between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am. And no idling trucks during this time either! There is no noise barrier yet invented that will block those beeping horns. Thank you. Douglas Humphrey Jeanmarie Ambrosio W. Dreyfuss Lane K Meridian, ID
