Subject: ACHD Linder Village Report
Dear Mayor and Council,
I am writing in opposition to part of the Linder Village ACHD road plan. The sub streets in
Paramount that are proposed to go into Linder Village are an endangerment to the citizens living
along there. Especially with Winco's ridiculous 24 hour operation next to a neighborhood. Children
riding bikes to school and walking those streets (especially in the morning hours when it is dark)
will have to watch out for even more traffic that is unwanted and NOT in the original plan. The
ACHD report estimates 19,274 vehicle trips per day (in phase 1), and with 5% going through
Paramount as the report states, that makes 963 vehicles a day for that shopping area through
Paramount. How is 963 vehicles EXTRA a day through a quiet family neighborhood acceptable?
There is NO reason to punch driving streets through into Linder Village (NOTHING like The Village
but more strip mall shopping with a big box store) from Paramount. The only thing through
Paramount into that shopping area should be bike/walking paths. People in Paramount wishing to
shop there can easily access from Linder Road or Chinden adding only 1-2 minutes to their drive.
The only thing punching roads through the neighborhood will do is increase neighborhood traffic
from those outside the neighborhood wishing to bi-pass the main overcrowded roads to rush
through the neighborhood, past a high school with a crosswalk and past houses with children
playing in the streets. POOR JUDGEMENT!
I will be at the meeting at noon today for the ACHD and the meeting on December 18th, even
though it is obvious the purpose of moving the time to noon is to keep people from attending to
object to such poor planning and endangering our neighborhoods.

Subject: Linder Village
Dear Council members,
I will be at the city council meeting tonight, but will be speaking on safety mainly. There is a point that I
would like to make here though that I probably won't have enough time to speak about tonight.
The plot in question was MC -R then changed to MC -C to accommodate larger businesses. That is the only
reason that was changed. The current comprehensive plan makes two important points that are being ignored
over and over again. One is that a MC -C has a max building permit of 30,000-60,000 sqfeet. Yet Winco is
allowed at roughly 80,OOOsgfeet. Why were they even allowed to apply to be built there? How many times
will that allowance be pushed and why do we even have a plan that is just words to be ignored?
The second point is that MC -C is "to avoid single -use and strip commercial type buildings." How is Linder
Village not a strip commercial? The only difference it that some of the buildings are larger (grossly larger)
and spread out a bit. It is the same.
As you are creating the new comprehensive plan, I hope it's not to change to accommodate large business
next to our neighborhoods. A change so city can justify Winco and Costco and industrialization and 24
shopping next to our quiet, family oriented neighborhoods, jeopardizing our safety by pushing over 1,000
extra cars a day (based on ACHD calculation of 5% of new traffic moving through Paramount to the site)
through our neighborhood. I see that many people want a "safe" and "livable" Meridian from the comments.
Not a "commercial" and "crowded" Meridian.
Sincerely,
Alicia Muhlestein
