Subject: Concerned for Children's Safety with Increased Linder Village Traffic
Dear Mayor De Weerd,
My family lives in Paramount, and we LOVE Winco!! We are excited to have one closer to us.
HOWEVER, we are concerned about how the exponential increase in traffic to Winco and the other
businesses affects the safety of our children here in Paramount. Our children do not have access to school
buses in Paramount, so hundreds of them, as young as FIVE YEARS OLD, walk and ride their bikes and
scooters to and from school EVERY DAY. We are very concerned that the safety of these children is not
being considered as Linder Village and Meridian city officials meet to compromise about the roads in and
out of Linder Village.
Please, please consider these children as you decide on road and design plans. If there are any short-cuts
through Paramount, drivers WILL find them and use them, and they will be dashing in and out, trying to
save time, and not thinking about the safety of little ones who may dart across the street. At the very least,
please place speed bumps to decrease the speed of drivers.
We also understand that Winco is still planning on having 24 hour deliveries. Please imagine how this
affects so many families, as they try to get good sleep at night. They have worked so hard, made sacrifices,
and saved up their money to buy a nice home in a calm, family-oriented neighborhood. They understood
that businesses might move in close by, but they had no idea they would be moving in to a 24/7
neighborhood. The new Costco has agreed to limit deliveries to daytime hours, and we believe that surely
Winco, being Idaho grown, can make this same concession to be friendly to its neighbors.
We understand that the city of Meridian has a comprehensive plan in place to make Meridian a desirable
place to live, and we just ask that you stick to these guidelines and not cave to developers' unwillingness to
compromise. We have voted you in place because we believe you will stand up for us and protect us as
citizens. Please make us proud!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Forsgren
