This mixed-use proposal will create an exciting new atmosphere for shopping and dining that the community will enjoy as well as a new residential neighborhood close to amenities in high demand. The Meridian Comprehensive Plan recommends services such as grocery stores within walking distance of residential communities. The Comprehensive Plan also urges the provision of housing options close to employment and shopping centers. Linder Village is supportive of these guidelines. This proposal is also an opportunity for private development to facilitate road improvements that the corridor needs. The traffic improvements that are included as part of the Linder Village proposal will help increase mobility and safety for drivers and pedestrians at and around one of the corridor's major arterial intersections. Finally, Linder Village will promote economic development to position Meridian for success for decades to come. The proposal will create jobs and generate substantial tax revenue to help fund vital City services. Existing businesses will also benefit from opportunities to attract new customers living at Linder Village. Ultimately, Linder Village is a proposal that will proudly serve the community, and I urge your strong support to help ensure this project becomes a reality. It has been frustrating as a resident in this area to hear news of Winco and other businesses proposing to build in this area and then coming up against so much opposition. This is an area of growth. I knew it 12 years ago when I moved here. I was sad when the farm behind my house sold to a developer, I miss the view that I had out my back window. But I understand it is a natural part of living in a fast growing community. I have looked forward to having Winco and Costco closer. It will save me time and money. I don't believe that the homes in our area will loose value. I feel it will only make it more convenient and attractive to live here. Most residents that I have talked to are excited about the Winco building in our area. I am honestly amazed at all the the developers have done to accommodate the demands of the opposing voices. They have made efforts to listen to and understand the community needs and have been generous in their continuing accommodation of those requests. I have observed that Winco is a good company. They pay and compensate their employees well, they keep their store and parking lot clean. They carry a variety of high quality products at reasonable prices (much better prices than Fred Meyer, I might add). The Eagle Winco is a nice facility and has not made the area around it less desirable. The traffic will increase, but that will happen with any business that is built there. The traffic will definitely increase with the Costco going in down the road. As far as I understand, widening will be done on Chinden to compensate for this. I'm sorry that I am unable to attend the meeting due to a conflict tonight. If I could, I would express to the opposition that it's time to quit fighting. The ideal that they hope for doesn't exist here. The fact is we live in a high growth area. If Winco doesn't build there, someone else will. I would much rather have a Winco there than a huge gas station, large storage facility or any number of other less desirable businesses. I urge the city council to approve the proposal so that the residents in this area can finally enjoy the benefit. Thank you for your time, Mary Clark
