We are writing to express our concerns about the revised plans for Linder Village. The new plans call for a road to connect Linder Village to Fox Run. This would route shopping traffic onto our neighborhood streets. This concerns us greatly. Chinden road is currently a parking lot during both rush hours. By providing access to Linder Village through the Paramount neighborhood, you will be encouraging cars to use streets such as Producer, Gable and Director to cut through Paramount instead of taking Meridian to Chinden. All traffic coming from the South and Southeast will be able to use Meridian to Director as a way to avoid Chinden to get to Linder village. We need to ensure this does not happen for the safety of our children. As you know, the Paramount plans call for a pool to be built at the intersection of Fox run and Director, which will be open in advance of the shopping center. Hundreds of children will be crossing director at the intersections of Garbo, Bacall and Channing to access this pool and the neighborhood walking path on the north side of Director. There are no stop signs at any of these intersections, the landscaping also blocks the view of pedestrians in the summer when the grasses/bushes are full size, and people are already flying down Director at 40 -50 miles an hour regularly to cut through to the high school. How will you protect our children from the massive influx of traffic on our neighborhood streets if this shopping center is put in? Our children have to cross Gable to get home from school and will regularly cross Director once the new playground and pool goes in. Ideally, there should be no access to the shopping center from the Paramount neighborhood. If this is not possible, then the developer should be required to fund stop signs on Director at Garbo, Bacall and Channing, with strict enforcement from the Meridian police department. Additionally, the developer should be required to fund speed bumps on Gable and a stop sign on Gable at Dietrich to provide a safe way for our children to cross the road. I would also advocate for lower speed limits on both Garbo and Director. All of this should be approved by the ACHD, with an installation timeline set, before Linder Village is approved. Please don't approve this project and trust that the ACHD will deal with the resulting traffic problems later. They have already shown on numerous occasions that they are unwilling to protect our children by putting in additional stop signs and speed bumps. Linder Village will only make the existing dangerous situation significantly worse by increase the traffic on already unsafe neighborhood streets. We need to be sure our kids lives are more important than a developer's shopping center. Please we beg you,do something to keep this shopping center traffic out of our residential neighborhood. Thank you, Beth and Adam Schweibinz 6052 N Mitchum
