I am disappointed that meridian Planning and Zoning denied the application by west ada for the new high school. If P&Z feels that additional changes need to be made to the plan in order to create a safer more enhanced school then I can respect and appreciate that. What I am upset about is that the “location” was cited as a reason for denying the application. When the bond was run the citizens were made aware of the location of the new high school. Many of my friends voted in favor of this bond (a super majority if you will) knowing where the school would be located. Several of my friends voted against the bond, as they preferred the new high school be located in south meridian. This was their way of showing d isapproval of the location. The bond passed with a super majority, thus it passed even with the knowledge that it would be located far west. A great deal of meridians growth is moving west. It’s the only way for it to go. A high school in this location makes good sense. Not to mention that the district was able to procure the land for a good price because it isn’t all built out yet. Because the bond was passed with location known ahead of time and by the super majority, P&Z should not have the right to deny the application based on location. Please advise the district what you would like them to do in order to make it a safe school zone in regards to road enhancements and emergency services. Then let them proceed to make those changes and please approve this school. As a mother with 5 kids in the district we need another high school. And we need it sooner rather than later. Location should not be a determining factor after the citizens of the district have already voted. Thank you, Brittney Ball
