I am unable to attend the meeting on Oct. 2 concerning this matter, but I wanted my voice to be heard. West Ada school district is in great need of a new high school. The proposed location is an excellent one as it would relieve high schools that are already over-crowded and is in a great position for the future growth in Meridian. My son will be attending Rocky Mountain HS beginning the year that Owyhee is scheduled to open. It has made me feel more at ease knowing that there would be some relief of the overcrowding before he attends school there. The stories I have heard about what is going on with such an overcrowded school have made me feel very uneasy. It is unsafe. Meridian is an incredibly wonderful place to raise a family, but if we have schools that cannot meet the needs of our students because of severe overcrowding, that will no longer be the case. The growth the area is experiencing requires forward thinking. This school needs to be built without further delay as the population is growing each month. By denying the location, it will set the project back and make an already dire situation worse. Let's do what we need to do to serve the citizens of this city. Providing quality education is a key component of a great city. If we fail to provide adequate facilities in a timely manner, we fail our children but also our community in general.
