I am a parent with kids that attend West Ada schools. I agree they are crowded and something needs to be done. But they need to have a long-term plan that is available to and commented by the public. That plan need to have regular review by the people and cities they support. This plan needs to include the possible locations of schools. The school district needs to stop thinking they can force their way into doing thing their way. This school’s location should have been brought before a city council meeting long before now. They should have gotten a verbal approval to proceed, or and approval that building a school in that location is an idea supported by the city. Their POOR planning should not be a cause for the city to make an exception to their long-term growth plan. The reasons I am in favor of denying this permit: • There are no major subdivisions in the area of the new school. Therefore, the bulk of the students will need to be bussed or personal cars. I am sure there could be major subdivisions planned, or under construction, but at present few if any students could walk to the new school. • The roads in the area are challenged to meet the current load. The additional load placed on them with the busses and cars will overwhelm them. This in turn will force ACHD and the city of meridian to incur more unplanned costs to construct wider roads and other infrastructure improvements. • Meridian city services (Water, Sewer, and Emergency Services, etc.) are not available in the area yet. How much more will the Meridian City residents pay to provide for extending these services. • This location might be a good location when it has already been annexed into the city. The roads are upgraded or in planning to make them ready. And all city services are available. At present that is not the case. Thank You – A Concerned Resident Brad
