I would like it noted that while I am in support of Owyhee High School being built I have concerns with McDermott/Hwy 16 not going all the way through Chinden. Adding a high school on McDermott and adding all of the new high school drivers and or parents that need to cross Chinden to get back and forth to school/home could lead to unnecessary vehicle collisions. I fear that students and or parents will make U- turns on Chinden to access McDermott from Hwy 16 putting many lives at risk. Hwy 16 is the way we would need to get to the school in addition to many buses. Would Hwy 16 become a 4 way stop sigh to help with the school traffic? If not will be busses be directed to try to take Black Cat out to Chinden to make a left hand turn to head out toward Hwy 16? That still does not feel like a safe option for my students and causes me a lot of concern. I appreciate the city council taking these concerns into consideration when making their decision. Thank you, Shirlynn Maddox
