I teach at Star Middle and I live in Star, many of our families including my own are directly affected by the uncertainty that comes with the decision of the Planning and Zoning committee. It really puts the district and the families affected in a tight spot. I feel that if this were an issue to be denied then it should have been denied FAR before voters were allowed to approve the money. The planning and zoning committee surely had an opportunity earlier in the development of these plans to voice concerns and to work with the district to come up with a solution. Growth is here, it has been allowed to happen and now we need to support our kids! If there are any questions about the need for more space in schools, I'm sure you all would be welcome to visit any one of the high schools to feel the stress and unnecessary hardship on students and teacher than comes with over crowding. Being at a new school I can speak to the wonderful progress that can be made when students are given the tools they need. You and the planning and Zoning committee are certainly welcome to visit and witness what awesome thing occur when we meet students' and teachers' needs. As a teacher, it is a very tiring thing to have education and our students continuously put off and not prioritized above other issues. This cannot and should not be allowed, Owyhee high school needs to be allowed to build.
