Subject: West Ada/Owyhee High School
I am a resident of Meridian and my oldest daughter attends Rocky Mountain High School and my youngest is
slated to attend there in two more years.
Meridian is growing fast and overcrowding in current schools is getting worse. The "quick fix" of adding portable
upon portable to the existing schools is not conducive to learning (they freeze in the winter, slip on ice going
to and from classes in the winter, and fry in the summer), not to mention the sheer number of kids and the
various problems that alone presents.
The location proposed by West Ada is a is a good location because it allows the School District to spend tax
payer’s money responsibly on affordable land and the school will be able to serve all of the residential
development moving toward and west of McDermott road.
Meridian citizens voted to approve this school in the proposed location in last year’s bond election and the City
Council should listen to the residents and approve the school.
Owyhee High School should be built where West Ada School District currently proposed and the residents of
Meridian have indicated they need the school. Please do what is right for the community and our kids!
