I will be out of town on October 2nd when public testimony is taken on the approval of the new high school. It is
beyond ridiculous that the planning and zoning recommended denying the application. Thankfully the City Council
can correct this. This school, and the location of the school, was supported by 67% of the voters in the school
district. The fact that it is further west than current mass development is a good thing- it is planning ahead.
Additionally the district saved money by purchasing this land. To force them to buy more expensive land for a
different site or delay construction against the will of the voters is poor policy. I also hope the council and other
stakeholders will use this opportunity to plan accordingly in this area when it comes to the roadways.
As a parent of two children attending a very overcrowded Rocky Mountain High School, I hope the City Council will
follow the will of the voters on this matter.
