Subject: Owyhee High School
To Whom It May Concern:
As a parent and teacher of students in West Ada School District, I am shocked and confused
by Meridian Planning and Zoning's denial of West Ada's application to annex the Owyhee High School
site into the City of Meridian and grant a conditional use permit to build the new high school. It
concerns me that the growth of educational facilities would need a second thought. The patrons of
our community approved this school by 67% knowing that the current high schools do not have the
capacity to house the number of students we have, let alone adequately teach them with the
overcrowded numbers. As city council members I hope that you take into account the detrimental
effect that delaying the building of the new high school would have on our students. I have one
student in high school and another that should attend Owyhee High School at the intended opening
year. It is obvious that West Ada, as well as patrons of this community, believe that overcrowded
schools are disadvantageous. Please consider what is best for our students and allow the construction
of Owyhee High School to begin as planned. Thank you for taking the time to read over and
consider my thoughts.
Sincerely,
Shannon Dunn
