I constantly hear complaints that the City of Meridian is approving subdivision without the community infrastructure to support them. I live in NW Meridian and have kids in the district. I've dealt firsthand with the lack of foresight and planning. Schools and roads aren't keeping up with the growth we are experiencing. I am thrilled that for once there is some forward planning. The location of the school will not only relieve crowding at Rocky and Eagle High School, it will be located in area where tremendous growth is being forecasted. The subdivisions have already been approved and there are a number of houses already built or under construction. Planning and zoning cited concerns about pedestrian infrastructure, this is a chicken or the egg argument. We know the neighborhoods are going to be built, they've already been approved, adding a high school is only going to encourage more growth in that area. Another concern was that the surrounding areas aren't yet annexed in to the city. We all know that at some point this will change, besides the district serves more than Meridian The school is needed now, by 2020 when it's scheduled to open it will be even more critical. I have three kids in the West Ada School district. Overcrowding has been a constant problem. As it stands, my kids are supposed to go to Rocky Mountain High School which is already severely overcrowded, it's only going to get worse if we don't address the issue. thank you, Ryan Hammons Meridian Resident
