Please approve the application from the West Ada School District regarding the proposed Owyhee High School. The
growth in the West Meridian area has been rapid and huge. The current high schools are overflowing and the
continued growing influx of families into Meridian will only exacerbate this situation.
We understand the issues of infrastructure and transportation present a challenge but this nothing new to the
Treasure Valley...we’re always behind the eight ball. In all fairness the record numbers of people moving here has
been incredible. But once you give the approval and construction has begun the respective departments, agencies
and companies will fall in line and meet the challenge head on.
The voters approved the bond measure for the construction of the school by 67%. More than 8700 home sites have
been approved for that area resulting in an estimated additional 2000 students who simply cannot be absorbed into
the existing high schools.
We do not have children in the West Ada School District, but we are strong advocates of providing all the resources
necessary to educate our school children. They are our future.
Please approve this application so construction can begin. It will be a challenge for them to meet the 2020 school
year deadline for the opening of Owyhee High School.
