Subject: Owyhee HS- BAD location!
Hi City Council,
I am opposed to the approval of the bond to build this new school and voted NO for it during the
election. Here is my reason why. They failed to make it clear who would be sent to this new school. This
information should have been determined before the request for a bond be put to the public. We live just a
stone's throw from EHS in Legacy off of Floating Feather Rd. We have repeatedly been the step-child of
Eagle, being sent out of our own town for schools. I know the residents of Legacy will be made to, just like
all the other re-districting, be sent all the way down to Owyhee HS.
Having my two older children drive on a 65 mph road to school (HWY 16) is unacceptable. Driving that
road, where my husband, two boys and father-in-law were in a horrific car accident June 17, 2016 is
unthinkable. If the overcrowding is meant to help EHS and Rocky MHS, then common sense needs to
prevail and using Linder Rd as the cut-off should not be considered.
The lines should be drawn east to west, rather than north to south for re-districting. Please, if this location is
approved, set parameters to this. Make sure they use common sense. Offer to grandfather current
students. I have a daughter who will be going back and forth playing multiple sports for two of those
years. It makes a huge difference in everyones life how far she has to drive to go to school, drive home in
the dark after daily practices, etc. Less than a mile or down a terrible, high speed, heavily trafficked road
with numerous accidents. See link to our terrible accident we are still recovering from.
