For once, West Ada is ahead of growth instead of playing catch up by cramming students into overcrowded classrooms and hoping bond issues pass to deal with increased enrollment. I believe West Ada should certainly address any concerns raised by police and fire about their plans, but otherwise, the City of Meridian should be doing everything in its power to help West Ada get this needed school built and ready for students as soon as possible. We lived in Phoenix from 2000 to 2010, a period of incredible growth for that city. Roads and schools and other infrastructure were always being built in a reas where nothing else had been built, but where homes and growth were expected. Getting these things in place before houses were built helped ease the inevitable growing pains. While I realize the city can't do much about building roads, here is a chance for the city to help ease school overcrowding. West Ada has the land and money and plans and should be allowed to proceed quickly. It is ironic, given that the city of Meridian gets criticism on a regular basis for "approving anything and everything wherever," yet move to deny West Ada the opportunity to be ahead of the game for once. I believe it is in the overall best interests of this city, for the City Council to override Planning and Zoning and assist West Ada in every possible way on this project.
