Our town had a population of approximately 5800 and some patrons were concerned that the new high school, built in 1975, on Linder and Pine "...was too far out of town." Meridian High School was already over 2000 students, as a 3 year high school, and swelled to 2600+ by the time Centennial High School was built in 1986. A decision to move to the 4 year high school format had both schools well over 2000 by the time Eagle High School was constructed and before they opened in 1995 Meridian High School was dealing with a 10 period staggered start schedule that stressed our resources to the limit. As council members you understand that this was just the beginning of the growth as our city population was approaching 10,000 when Eagle HS opened. Eagle was quickly followed by Mountain View in 2003 and Rocky Mountain in 2009. Owyhee High School site is Ideal for alleviating the plus 2200 student populations at both Mountain View and Rocky Mountain as well as allowing the new upgrades to Meridian High School to fully benefit their students by keeping their population at around 2000. I'm still associated with the West Ada School District in an assignment with Renaissance High School's International Baccalaureate program and in my 41 years with West Ada I can attest that they have always worked with the concerns of their students at the forefront of their decision making process. DDDM (Data Driven Decision Making) is at the core of the location for Owyhee High School. The fact that the patrons of our district continue to pass our bond requests show their faith in the ability of the Administration of the West Ada School District to correctly guide the ever increasing growth that our city of 106,000 faces in providing quality education for our students. Please support the decision to place Owyhee High School at the proposed location of McDermott and Ustick. 1 Sincerely Michael Conroy -- Michael Conroy 2
