HomeMy WebLinkAboutKen JantzSeptember 17, 2018 City of Meridian, Idaho Application H-2018-0042 Residents of the City Planning and Zoning Department Mayor and City Council Members On July 17, 2018 the city held a public hearing regarding an application to approve a processing facility on the northwest corner of South Locust Grove and Columbia Road, Property owned by Gary and Linda Murgoitio, LLC. This property was zoned by the City of Meridian as R-4 upon annexation. Approval of the application was not recommended by Meridian Planning and Zoning Department and most residents in the near proximity of the property objected nearly unanimously to the applicant’s application request with a long and accurate list if complaints which you are all aware of. When it became clear to Michael Murgoitio, that he was losing his argument supporting his request; he and his group starting backing off his initial request in an attempt to confuse everyone in the hearing room. Thank you for making him submit a clear application. The residents surrounding his processing facility would have much appreciated a very loud and clear NO! It’s against Zoning law and we are not going to allow it! Now we will stop this application once and for all. Michael Murgoitio’s community meeting held on September 5, 2018 was his political spiel and only the questions he wanted to answer were considered. Tough question were ignored. While we accept the premise that the Murgoitio family has owned many acres of property now in the City of Meridian, they clearly have not owned the property where the processing facility is being proposed for any long period of time. It is clear to me that if the revised processing facility application is somehow approved by the City of Meridian on September 18, 2018, the city will open itself to several lawsuits. In addition the complaints for violations to federal, state, county, water districts, fire department, interested environmental groups and other will be heard and investigated. Good Luck with that Meridian tax payers. It should be noted in documents provided Sept 5, 2018 by Michael Murgoitio it clear in his own written words that he is operating a “processing facility” ( AMENDED DEVLOPMENT AGREEMENT 1. RECITALS: 1.2) Considering the impacts on the quality of rural life: noise, odors, substantial traffic increases, air borne particulates, water quality, legal use of water, rodent attraction, impacts to downstream water users on New York Canal District’s Rawson Lateral, vibration, and other health issues that our neighbors and ourselves have experienced and know all too well, DO NOT approve this application!
