Good afternoon,
Attached is the current petition signature list and comments for the Change.org petition in support of the
proposed amendments that will be considered this evening.
Please note:
1. My neighbors are listed as living in Nampa, Caldwell, Boise and out of state. My son, who owns a home in
Larkspur at Victory and Meridian, is somehow listed as living in Florida-- he visited Disney World when he was
4 but otherwise has no association with the state. ;-)
2. I have an additional 25 or so hard copies of petitions signed by people who aren't on the Internet or didn't
want to sign on Change.org. I will scan asap and send along.
My apologies for the late submission--my husband was in the hospital and we've been out of state the last 10+
days until 2 a.m. this morning. I appreciate your understanding!

C.Jay,
Can you also include this on the record for tonight's Comp Plan amendment? I've copied the wording from the

-----Excerpt from Website-----
We concerned citizens are concerned about zoning "step ups" along Meridian's scenic Southern Rim and want
to preserve and protect low density zoning in South Meridi an. Therefore, we support the proposed text changes
to Chapter 3, page 21, of the City’s Comprehensive Plan related to the Southern Rim.
Whereas, the proposed text meets Key Community Values as defined by Meridian’s comprehensive plan, page
3:
1. Manage growth to achieve high-quality development.
2. Enhance Meridian’s quality of life for all current and future residents.
5. Protect Meridian’s self-identity.
Whereas, the proposed text supports the comprehensive plan goal of housing diversity by preserving low
density housing zones, page 20:
Rural / Estate: to allow for agricultural uses and the ancillary development of single-family homes on
large parcels where city services (e.g. – sewer and water) may or may not be provided. Uses may include both
small and larger-scale agricultural related activities and single-family homes at densities less than or equal to
one unit per five acres. New development should recognize existing agricultural uses and practices, respect
vi ew sheds and open space, and maintain or improve the overall health and production of agricultural lands and
resources in the area.
Whereas, the proposed text ensures development consistent with the City’s current Future Land Use Map,
Whereas, the proposed text reflects the wishes of surrounding neighborhoods and residents,
Whereas, the proposed text will help provide urgently needed low density housing inventory,
We therefore ask the City of Meridian City Council to approve the proposed Southern Rim special
amendments.

Peter Baranko US 2018-01-15 Development of smaller high density lots in our are need to stop
immediately, as an active voter rest assured I will be paying VERY
close attention to any city representative that pushes any agenda
that results in high density housing in our area.
Michelle Burk US 2018-01-16 Our children need space to play-in their own backyard. Families
want a decent space with room to live without seeing, touching and
hearing their neighbor. Please approve neighborhoods with 1/2
acre lots. Stop high density.
Cynthia Arrington Boise, ID 2018-01-16 I agree
Christie Herwy Meridian, ID 2018-01-17 For anyone living in Meridian, this petition is meant to inform the
City Council, ACHD and Planning and Zoning that we are against
the constant step-ups from the Future Land Use map. Developers
have successfully asked and obtained rezoning requests right and
left without any adherence to the actual publish plan. Home owners
make decisions on where to live and build based on the FLUM or
Future Land Use Map only to find that it's not being adhere to. This
affects property values and the overall vision and dream of where
one wants to live. If you are concerned about how Meridian is being
developed please read the petition and consider signing it
Roman Burk US 2018-01-18 This is Idaho, not California. We have room to spread out. I oppose
all high density plans. Build a community where families can be
outside more than in, where there is room to invite neighbors
over for a BBQ, where we can set up a volleyball net and play with
our kids. We all want enough room to enjoy our homes, with our
families. *Stop High Density in Meridian. I support .5 lots or higher.
Kelli Fuqua Meridian, ID 2018-01-19 Lot size is important!! No more high density!
Lisa Broderick MERIDIAN, ID 2018-01-20 I moved to South Meridian to have more space. I did not want to
live in a crammed, cookie cutter neighborhood, nor did I want a
crammed, "trendy" neighborhood. There are plenty of small lots
available, but the larger lots (0.4 acre and above) are so difficult to
find...
Thomas Singletary Fairfax, VA 2018-01-20 I am concerned about the effects of high density will have on ALL
residents of the Southern rim area of South Meridian. I feel there
will be deterioration in lifestyle quality, property value and safety.
Pat and Cliff Looney US 2018-01-20 We believe that larger lot sizes improve quality of life and
neighborhoods.
Cari Smith Meridian, ID 2018-01-21 The growth in Meridian is adversely affecting the way of life that
we have enjoyed for many years. There is a reason we chose
to settle here and the constant growth, without infrastructure
or consideration of a chosen "way of life" is very disappointing.
Something has to be done to change the direction we are heading.

Alicia Muhlestein Meridian, ID 2018-01-24 You can’t trust a city government when they keep changing original
plans and zoning to accommodate developers yet overcrowd
schools, gridlock roads, and create harmful situations with unsafe
and unprotected neighborhoods with too much unregulated
development.
Tony Brownlee Meridian, ID 2018-01-24 Please protect the heritage and quality of life my family has enjoyed
here for 6 generations.
Michael Arnold Meridian, ID 2018-01-24 I whole heartedly endorse this petition. The City Council needs to
undertake efforts to control the population growth and preserve the
character of this community.
Mrs. Linda Arnold Meridian, ID 2018-01-24 Controlled growth is a must, to keep our towns from becoming
California, which is why the people are fleeing their state. PLEASE
use some common sense!
David Trask buffalo, NY 2018-01-26 We need to protect and maintain our pristine property and location
Robin Gegauff-Brooks Anniston, AL 2018-01-28 If you have never lived in a place that experienced rapid and
damaging over-growth, please take it from those who have. Your
costs will increase dramatically as your taxes increase to cover crime
and maintenance. Many acres here are owned by people out of
state who will sell to anyone and do not have your welfare at heart.
The growth and density have been much too fast to sustain. Traffic
is only one symptom. Keep Meridian beautiful and livable. There are
two houses on my street that have not sold for months. We do not
need all this new dense housing.
Kathleen Schmidt Meridian, ID 2018-02-02 I agree 100% with opinion of Susan Karnes
Gail Paradis Nampa, ID 2018-02-02 I am concerned about the rapid growth in Meridian. The roads,
schools, and businesses are becoming very overcrowded! The
quality of life in our beautiful city is going downhill and we need
to make some changes to slow the growth down and preserve the
Meridian we love.
Liz Echanis Idaho 2018-02-03 I 100% agree with this. I have to wait some times 5 minutes to get
out of my subdivision. Don't penalize people who have worked hard
and built their dream homes only to have every inch of ground
around them developed. Roads are so crowded that it is impossible
to make appointments. Just feel the Council isn't listening to what
the people living in Meridian are saying.Thank you for speaking out
and doing something.
Andrea Shelton Anniston, AL 2018-02-04 I’m signing this petition because no matter how hard we work
and how many meetings we attend, our City represtatives seem
to always give developers step-ups when it comes to what land is
previously zoned. So many people would like more land, and they
are willing to pay for it! The developers claim they can’t make money
with larger lots, when in fact they make plenty.... but they want
more! Please keep some space in our beautiful Meridian!!!

Andrew Allen Nampa, ID 2018-02-04 What is the goal of unmanaged non-stop growth? Our kids sit on
the hallway floors at the over crowded Mt. View High School to
eat lunch due to poor planning by our City Council. Classrooms
are over crowded, thanks again. Have you driven the connector in
the morning to get to work? If so, you would know what it is like
to see your life flash before your eyes daily. Thanks for that. Why
don't you slow the building permits and let home values rise in our
communties? You would then have the time needed to devise a
community friendly and responsible plan for growth. It would also
allow the biggest investment most families make, buying a home,
to appreciate in value. Instead you are artificially holding down our
home values and reducing our return on investment just so you can
continue to entice more people to move here and buy cheap homes
verses where they are emigrating from.Over crowded schools, over
crowded roads, more crime, less open space, enriching devlopers
and builders... What kind of comunnity
Anna Casacca Meridian, ID 2018-02-04 Anna Casacca
Jeffrey Badigian Meridian, ID 2018-02-05 I don't believe that deviating from our Future Land Use map, or
granting variances to the developers of this project, is in the best
interest of the residence surrounding this development, or for
Meridian in general. I want my council members to stand by it's
citizens, do what the people are asking, and what's right for our city.
Deny any major variances to our comprehensive plan.
Earl McCreary Meridian, ID 2018-02-06 Need to slow grow.
Janee Fallis Greenacres, WA 2018-02-06 I moved here recently because the Treasure Valley is about the
same size as our hometown and there is less crime. We wanted to
move somewhere safer to raise our kids. I’m disappointed how close
the houses are built next to each other and how small the lots are.
In the past year crime has increased tremendously. This is what we
are trying to get away from. The schools are way too overcrowded.
Valencia Garrett Meridian, ID 2018-02-06 City Council needs to stop!! Too much growth, too fast. Our identity
as a nice small city is being lost because of a few. Listen to the
masses.
