I've copied the wording from the website below. Thanks Brian McClure bmcclure@meridiancity.org -----Original Message----- From: Susan Karnes [mailto:susankarnes@gmail.com] Sent: Monday, February 05, 2018 10:08 PM To: Brian McClure Subject: Community · Protect Meridian's Southern Rim · Change.org Since we are going before Council on this tomorrow, here is the one to support the special amendments: https://www.change.org/p/protect-meridian-s-southern-rim/w?source_location=petition_nav Susan Sent from my iPhone -----Excerpt from Website----- We concerned citizens are concerned about zoning "step ups" along Meridian's scenic Southern Rim and want to preserve and protect low density zoning in South Meridian. Therefore, we support the proposed text changes to Chapt er 3, page 21, of the City’s Comprehensive Plan related to the Southern Rim. Whereas, the proposed text meets Key Community Values as defined by Meridian’s comprehensive plan, page 3: 1. Manage growth to achieve high-quality development.
 2. Enhance Meridian’s quality of life for all current and future residents.
 5. Protect Meridian’s self-identity.
2 Whereas, the proposed text supports the comprehensive plan goal of housing diversity by preserving low density housing zones, page 20: Rural / Estate: to allow for agricultural uses and the ancillary development of single-family homes on large parcels where city services (e.g. – sewer and water) may or may not be provided. Uses may include both small and larger-scale agricultural related activities and single-family homes at densities less than or equal to one unit per five acres. New development should recognize existing agricultural uses and practices, respect view sheds and open space, and maintain or improve the overall health and production of agricultural lands and resources in the area. Whereas, the proposed text ensures development consistent with the City’s current Future Land Use Map, Whereas, the proposed text reflects the wishes of surrounding neighborhoods and residents, Whereas, the proposed text will help provide urgently needed low density housing inventory, We therefore ask the City of Meridian City Council to approve the proposed Southern Rim special amendments.
