East Ridge Subdivision Application
H-2017-0129
Dear Madam Mayor and Council Members,
We write to express our adamant opposition to the plan presently proposed by the
applicant. The proposal ignores the need to have an attractive residential zone on the
South Rim. The previous decisions for the development on the rim, have stressed
having the area remain consistent with the larger lot sizes of Blackrock and the adjoining
properties.
The developer has ignored the need to have an adequate source of irrigation water. The
lack of water will cause the area to become unattractive and attain a “slummy”
characteristic in a relatively short time. Why should we encourage such poor planning?
It is doubtful that potential buyers will be told of the colossal summer water bills
they will experience?
The presentation of this plan and the accompanying representations lack credibility. The
assertion that Blackrock residents favor the plan is blatantly false. Credibility is lacking
also in the presentation of a plan that does not respond to the council's rejection of the
earlier plan (H 2016-0137).
A plan which proposes lot sizes of approximately ½ acre and offers a good irrigation
water source would be acceptable. The applicant should be required to do it's resea rch
and acquire water rights which are consistent with future needs instead of creating
problems for Meridian and future owners.
We don't want a slum on the South Rim. Quality homes which provide a quality life
style are needed and popular with buyers.
Please reject the present proposal.
Sincerely,
Pat & Cliff Looney
