As stated in the letter, we recently learned about an item that will soon be heard by the City Council and some of our members are directly affected. We have concerns with a portion of the pending Comprehensive Plan update, specifically relating to the North and South Rim areas. We have not yet seen this item on a posted agenda, but we anticipate it may be heard by the City Council soon. We are respectfully requesting that we have adequate time to more fully review these proposed changes and resolve some concerns. Thank you for your consideration and as always we appreciate the positive working relationship the BCA and our members share with the City. Sincerely, Dave Yorgason Government Affairs Representative for the Building Contractors Association of Southwestern Idaho Begin forwarded message: 2 From: "Frankie Hickman-Rice" < fhickman@heritagewifi.com > Subject: meridian mayor letter attached Date: October 20, 2017 at 9:48:10 AM MDT To: "'David Yorgason'" < dyorgason6@gmail.com >, "'Dan Richter'" <danr@avimor.com > Cc: "'Juston Hall'" < justonhall.creeksidehomes@gmail.com > Here you go and it is in the mail today. a m zECA "A Tradition of Building Excellence for Over 60 Years" BUILDING CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHWESTERN IDAHO, INC. Website: wvvw.bcaswi.org E-mail: bca@heritagewifi com Subject: Comprehensive Plan Amendment - North and South Rim Planning Areas To Mayor de Weerd and Members of Meridian City Council, The Building Contractors Association of Southwestern Idaho (BCASWI) wishes to express appreciation for the positive working relationship we have with the City of Meridian and its staff. As issues and concerns arise, we appreciate your willingness to listen to our concerns and work toward acceptable solutions. Recently, we learned that the City is considering adopting changes to its Comprehensive Plan and the Future Land Use Map. In the past, City staff has provided us the opportunity to discuss items like these to ensure they are thoroughly vetted. Unfortunately, this did not happen this time. One specific area of concern relates to the proposed North and South Rim policy statements and the areas that will be affected. Some of our members are directly affected by this proposal and have not had the opportunity to review or consider the impacts. We understand this proposal is coming soon to the City Council for consideration. We request that you table this item and not adopt these changes, and specifically not implement the North and South Rim planning areas or policy statements, until we have had a chance to more thoroughly vet the changes. To provide for adequate time to potentially meet with staff to review concerns, and due to the upcoming holidays, we recognize it may be appropriate to table this for 3 months. We thank you for your consideration and again appreciate the positive relationship we share with the City of Meridian. Sincerely, Juston Hall, President Building Contractors Association of Southwestern Idaho
