Hello Mayor de Weerd and Meridian City Council-
I am a homeowner in the White Bark neighborhood in south Meridian, adjacent to Sky Mesa. I am concerned
about the possibility of some upcoming changes being approved that will affect the residents in this
area. Thank you in advance for your time and attention to this matter that is in front of you. I appreciate your
efforts in behalf of the residents of Meridian on an ongoing basis.
For 5 years my family and I lived in the Tuscany neighborhood, also in south Meridian. Over the time we were
there, the neighborhood changed drastically as more and more homes were built, patios homes went in, traffic
increased and the school became extremely overcrowded. It got to be stifling to those that had been there
previously. We understood that was the plan for the neighborhood, and we accepted that, but decided to move
elsewhere. We looked for a couple of years to find a larger lot, and a builder that could meet our needs, a very
difficult pairing to find where the land is often sold to developers. Finally we made that happen in White
Bark! Lots not on top of each other, out of the traffic an d congestion of Tuscany, with a new elementary school
going in, under capacity. We moved at great expense to achieve these goals. We have lived in White Bark
now just one year, and the things we worked so hard to get away from are following us here.
Hillsdale Elementary is already filling in at an quick rate, Eagle road south of Amity is filling in, (and there is
no short term plan to change that) and Boise Hunter Homes is trying to increase housing density in the
immediate area, compounding each of these things. They want to decrease green space, increase population
density, traffic and overcrowding. I understand the need for residents of all kinds and incomes to have places
to live, I do. And it seems those needs have been met all over town. No doubt that has been done via much
effort and thought. However, it seems that the needs of residents seeking relief from the more congested parts
of town could be considered and met as well.
Please don't allow every part of our city to be filled in at maxium capacity. Please don't allow developers to
decrease their commitment to homeowners and city guidelines mid-way through a project. Please leave us
some green space, room in our schools to learn and grow, and streets that are not overcrowded with little to no
opportunity to address that prior to problems arising. Please require Boise Hunter Homes to meet city
requirements, not to alter them. Please require them to allow for the quality of life their developments promise,
and are compensated for. Please help us maintain the beauty, peace, and lifestyle south Meridian residents
have sought out and enjoy.
Thank you for your time and efforts-
