Message Rumor has it that the possibility of banning home-based businesses, such as direct sales, is on the
agenda for your meeting. I would like to provide my input on why this is a terrible topic of
discussion: Consumers tend to shop where and when it is most convenient for them, which is on the
internet. Most of the direct sales businesses are ran on the internet and provide a mean of income for
so many families. This income provides meals and housing for their families! Imagine having your
job taken away from y ou because your city didn't think it was necessary or appropriate... think about
that for a minute! Many consultants will donate their products back to fundraisers which supports
their community when someone is in need, or donates their hard-earned commission to help out a
2
stranger. Now what if YOU were that person who needed help and had nobody donate money or
products to a silent auction that would benefit you or a loved one? How about federal or state
support in ways of insurance, food stamps, etc that w ould be needed when families lose this income?
Now that would/could be detrimental in having to dole out funds to support these families you
effected. Please consider tossing this idea off of your agenda and focus on ways to help your people
instead of hurt them.
