HomeMy WebLinkAboutPZ - ITD Comments June 2, 2017 C.Jay Coles City of Meridian 33 E. Broadway Avenue Meridian, Idaho 83642 VIA EMAIL RE: H-2017-0064 PARAMOUNT DIRECTOR The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has reviewed the referenced combined preliminary plat and planned unit development applications and request for modification to the existing development agreement to accommodate the proposed development and update the conceptual development plan on a parcel located on the southwest corner of North Meridian Road and US-20/26 (West Chinden Boulevard) milepost 38.00. ITD has the following comments: 1. ITD does not object to the preliminary plat and planned unit development applications and request for modification to the existing development agreement for the property at this location. 2. No access to the State Highway system is requested with this application and none is approved. 3. ITD has completed a corridor study of US-20/26. The corridor study shows the future corridor width will need to be 200 feet wide. It is unclear from the submitted documents if the applicant has taken this into consideration and left sufficient clear area to avoid impacts to buildings and any greenspace that may be required by the City of Meridian. A view of the corridor study plan for this area can be found at: http://apps.itd.idaho.gov/apps/us2026CorridorStudy/Strip-Maps.pdf. 4. The City is reminded that the US-20/26 Corridor is already congested. This project will increase the number of vehicle trips in the corridor. ITD has no current funding assigned to mitigate traffic congestion in the US-20/26 corridor in this area. 5. Idaho Code 40-1910 does not allow advertising within the right-of-way of any State highway system. 6. IDAPA 39.03.60 rules govern advertising along the State highway system. The applicant can contact the ITD District 3 Traffic Section at 334-8300 for more information. If you have any questions, you may contact Shona Tonkin at 334-8341 or me at 332-7190. Sincerely, Ken Couch Development Services Coordinator Ken.Couch@itd.idaho.gov
