Dear Meridian City Council Member,
My name is Daniel Barry (Dan), and my wife's name is Kathleen Barry (Kathy).
We reside at 1520 North Vineyards Avenue. We appreciate the City of Meridian
providing us your "Notice of Hearing" regarding an application by Earl and Donna Bohrn
for a Variance from MCC 11-10-6 to allow a chi1dcare/preschool in an R4 zone.
We would like to be present during your Tuesday, October 5, 2004 hearing at
7:00 p.m.; however we have plans to travel during that timeframe and are unfortunately
unavailable.
We are NOT in favor of granting a variance. Currently there is a daycare center
within 300 feet of 1451 North Santa Rosa Place. The other daycare center is Children's
Unique Style, located at 1915 W. Cherry Lane. This Variance would put two daycare
centers within 150 feet of our property. Currently excessive noise is present during the
summer months from Children's Unique Style daycare center, and an additional
daycare/preschool so close to our property is definitively not appealing.
We also do not believe it is advantageous for the City of Meridian to allow a
variance of this sort in residential areas when alternate businesses are located within a
few hundred feet. Please see attached map for reference location of Children's Unique
Style daycare/preschool.
