Good afternoon, Ms. Allen,
By now, you have received a letter from Thomas Mannschreck of Thomas
Development Company regarding the proposed application to develop the
vacant ground directly west of the office park where I work. Our
address is 2230 W. Everest Lane, Ste 100, Meridian, ID. I just wanted
to send you a photo of the scene I encountered trying to leave work
yesterday afternoon. This is Everest Lane which is a private drive at
this point. We have daily traffic problems with the cars coming and
going to Challenger Charter School, but that’s only morning and
afternoon. Now, there is a music/art lesson place (in our office
complex of six buildings) and we fight to get out of work daily because
the parents park their vehicles on the street which is not zoned as a
normal street and therefore not wide enough to support parking.
Yesterday, they had some kind of big event and this traffic cluster
began around 4PM. You will notice that cars parked on BOTH sides of the
street, bringing this street down to a one lane street. Basically, it
was like being on a one way bridge! It took me ten minutes to get out
of the parking lot because there was traffic going both east and west on
Everest Lane and it was a free-for-all to get anywhere. If the city is
going to allow additional commercial development, then the city is going
to have to take over this street and make it a normal city street.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or would like me
to document further traffic issues by photo for you.
