We have owned our home in Kelly Creek since March 2005 and have seen a lot of change since then. Some good and some that makes us shake our heads. Now to learn that the City of Meridian is seriously considering adding yet ANOTHER apartment complex to the neighborhood, we are flabbergasted! The fact that the intersection at Goddard and McMillan is already extremely congested and DANGEROUS is reason number one! I have witnessed a few close calls and am aware that there have been accidents at this intersection. I have also personally experienced people leaving from the Selway apartments with no regard to oncoming traffic. They seem to think they have the right-of-way. The thought of adding more traffic to the intersections of Goddard/McMillan and Goddard/Apgar Creek is ridiculous! These roads were not designed to handle the increase in traffic that an additional 80+ unit apartment complex would bring. ACHD has stated they do not want another HIGH traffic entrance on McMIllan, so they think it’s a “good” idea to add the HIGH traffic to the McMIllan/ Goddard entrance. How does that make sense in any way shape or form? Another BIG aspect to consider is the additional kids this would bring to our ALREADY overcrowded schools! The boundaries were just recently changed for high schools due to overcrowding and now you want to allow for more OVERCROWDING . At what point does the city actually listen to the citizens that live in the area? I have not spoken to anyone that is in support of adding more apartments to the neighborhood. Do you speak with teachers and principals in the area as to how the additional students will impact the teacher/student ratios? How will the schools handle additional overcrowding this would inevitably cause? Will the taxpaying citizen be expected to pay for yet another school bond because the city won’t say NO to these developers? We completely understand the land is going to be developed, however the idea of adding additional apartments is unreasonable for the area. Please truly consider the many objections of the homeowners as we will be the ones impacted by the development. Thank you for your time and consideration.
