To Whom it may concern,
I am writing you in response to the proposed addition of storage units and Goddard Creek apartments within the
12-acre area off of McMillan between Ten Mile and Linder roads.
To begin, I live on Sage Springs Ct just up the road toward Linder from the site of the proposed changes. I am
fine with the idea of a well-placed and designed storage facility on those grounds and recognize that there will
be development here at some point in the future regardless. That being said, I am concerned and disagree with
the additional proposed 80 apartment units.
It has been explained that the storage units will occupy 7 acres of the 12 available acres. This leaves 5 acres for
the proposed apartments. The proposal is suggesting a change to the zoning in the area to allow for the
apartments. According to the current zoning map that I found on the Meridian City website, this area is zoned
as Medium-Low Residential, in other words, 3-8 Dwellings per acre. If the request for the zoning change were
to go through, the zoning for that area would change to High Density Residential, or 15-40 dwellings per
acre. This is a zoning increase by two density levels and I feel highly inappropriate for a change beyond a
single increase in zoning near our community. Please note that I am not using the full 12 acres as my
denominator when calculating the density of the proposed residential area. I am using the remaining 5 proposed
non-commercial acres with the request 80 dwellings thereon – this results in 16 dwellings per acre.
My family and I enjoy living in Meridian, and we really enjoy the current population our neighborhood
provides. I respectfully request that you consider the above information when making your decision. My
family and I do not support this change request.
Best Regards,
