Subject:Request for Annual Report Regarding Diversity of Housing and Percentage of Land Use
By Category
Dear Mayor de Weerd,
As South Meridian continues to experience rapid growth, it is important for City Council, Planning and Zoning
Commission and the citizens of Meridian to understand the nature of that growth to ensure we have “a variety and
balance of land uses” (Comprehens ive Plan Section 3.05.00) and we have “diversity of housing types for greater range of
choice” (Comprehensive Plan Section 3.07.00).
Balancing the variety of land uses and offering a diversity of housing types are core principles set forth in the
Comprehensive Plan. The Plan also specifies that annually monitoring such metrics is critical to achieving the type of
City we all desire. Having access to the annual diversity report, as well as the percentage of each major land use
category, is critical information required in order for the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council to properly
manage the growth in South Meridian.
I would like a copy of the last three years of the annual report referenced in Section 3.05.01D of the Comprehensive Plan
and a copy of the last three years of the annual report referenced in Section 3.07.01B of the Comprehensive Plan.
If this information is not currently available, I would like to suggest that priority be given to gather this information and
complete the analysis before further land use and annexation decisions are made.
Thank you for your passion to make Meridian a premier place to live, work and raise a family!
Best regards,
Kathi Baumgartner
