Dear Councilman Caverner,
I wanted to express my gratitude for your role in the City Council meeting last night. I
appreciated your thoughtful questions and your concern for the safety of children within the Sky
Mesa and Blackrock neighborhoods. Personally, we have two small children 4, 6 who enjoy
playing outside and riding their bikes on the streets. The Sky Mesa and Blackrock subdivisions
combined have a multitude of children who use Taconic Dr. everyday to catch the bus, to ride
their bikes, walk home from school, etc... The safety concerns of adding 60-ton trucks to the mix
are very valid.
My family appreciates the Council's decision to send the application back to P &Z for additional
considerations and changes. As stated by the public testimony last night, the Rim is an area that
we hope the Council will continue to treasure while preserving the established identity of the
area. As Mayor Tammy stated, "We are not in a hurry, and we only have once chance to do it
right".
