Re: Opposition to East Ridge Estates
File #H-2016-0137
Dear Mayor de Weerd and Members of the City Council,
We have resided at 5616 S Graphite Way in the Blackrock subdivision of Meridian
since 2010. We were attracted to the location by the country feel that still existed at
that time. We have enjoyed the expansive lots, fabulous mountain views, the peace
and quiet, and the varied wildlife. Sadly with the Century Farm and Sky Mesa
developments, this has begun to change. We feel that the R-8 density as proposed
for East Ridge Estates would further compromise this area, diminishing quality of
life for all residents of the existing neighborhoods.
The density proposed is not consistent with the characteristics of the existing
neighborhoods and would have a negative impact on traffic, property values and the
country feel of our area. We are also extremely concerned about the safety of our
residents if construction traffic for East Ridge comes through our neighborhood
rather than off Lake Hazel Road.
It is disappointing to see Meridian become a city that is nothing but one subdivision
after another, each more crowded than the last, with traffic jams aplenty. Frankly
the City of Eagle has done a much better job of transitioning from one neighborhood
to another and protecting property values all across the board.
We implore you carefully consider lower density for East Ridge in order to comply
with the City of Meridian's master plan and protect current homeowners.
