HomeMy WebLinkAboutChris and Marci RoodWe, Chris and Marci Rood, 2371 E Cyanite Dr, of BlackRock Subdivision, Meridian, Idaho are
opposed to the East Ridge plan of development as it now exists for the following reasons:
1) Heavy construction traffic flow will come through our neighborhood endangering
children, impacting our home values, and destroying our quiet family atmosphere. Also,
emergency vehicles will have only one access to the area. An alternate entry from Lake
Hazel road should be built before construction begins.
2) BlackRock is an Estate themed community. We home owners paid a hefty premium to
live in an open, low density, family friendly neighborhood. Ours is one of the smaller lots
at .65 acres and about half the lots are 1 acre or larger. When we purchased our home,
the Meridian vision for this area was one of large lots with an equestrian theme and that
is why we paid such a large premium to live here. The proposal for East Ridge is for a
high density development that will be abutted to BlackRock. This does not provide
continuity of neighborhood or a transition from our estate lots to the small, less
desirable East Ridge lots. The East Ridge plan will negatively affect our safety, home
values, tax base, and quality of life. A plan of low density homes transitioning to higher
density should be established.
3) Meridian leaders have made it one of the most desirable places to live in the entire
world. Plans like East Ridge Estates are not how we earned this reputation. Please take a
closer look at the plan as submitted and make the developers build an alternate access
from Lake Hazel Road before construction begins and build with continuity and a
transition to higher density homes. The South rim of Meridian is and will be the focal
point and of our community and an example to the rest of the nation as to what our
vision is. East Ridge development as it is planned will be a negative impact on our
community.
