HomeMy WebLinkAboutGina Hanover - 3.22March 22, 2017 Regarding: Opposition to East Ridge Estates File#: H-2016-0137 To Mayor Tammy de Weerd and City Council: We are writing this letter in regards to the subdivision proposed (East Ridge Estates) to the south of Blackrock subdivision and to let you know we are opposed to the R-8 zoning they are proposing. My husband and I built our first home in Meridian in 1990 and have lived and enjoyed Meridian since then. We are now living in our 3rd home in Meridian and looked high and low for an Estate type of subdivision that we could have a view and keep the value of our home high. We were about to give up and head back to Boise, when we were told about Blackrock sub and the % to 1 acre lots. This is a very, very unique area in Meridian, as there are so few of Estate type subs in Meridian and we feel it is in the city's best interest to keep a few of these around to draw people in as the Boise Foothills have done so for Boise. We feel if you allow an R-8 and R-15 type subs to go around Blackrock, this will totally diminish the value and characteristics that that could pull higher end job paying individuals to Meridian. There are thousands and thousands of acres in Meridian that would be more well suited for smaller type homes and PLEASE let's keep Blackrock as a true Estate (definition of ESTATE: an extensive large area of land in the country with a LARGE house owned by one person) type of living and use other parts of Meridian for R-8 and R -15's. We have also been to meetings at the Meridian City Hall and learned that East Ridge "Estates" is not wanting to spend the money upfront to build a road from Lake Hazel in to this sub for large equipment and contractors to enter and rather than to spend money (that will eventually need to be spent anyways), they want to utilize Taconic to do this. This will be very dangerous/hazardous to the children catching the school bus and for Blackrock and Sky Mesa working folks to try and get on at Taconic and Eagle Road. This is a total wreck waiting to happen for our children and ourselves with such heavy equipment and traffic added with no other access. We truly ask you take these points into deep consideration and deny the R-8 and R -15's to be built around this very unique area. Again, we are not opposing a subdivision but asking for it to be more a "true" Estate style and maintain continuity throughout this area. Yours Trulyl 'a ung";Z v e Gi ►. % vcve r as l G 3
