Mary Lane Meridian, Idaho 83642 March 26, 2017 RE: OPPOSITION TO ZONING CHANGES TO THE EAST RIDGE ESTATES IN MERIDIAN. FILE # H-2016-0137 This is an open letter expressing opposition to the changes in zoning. We just recently were made aware of the proposed zoning changes to the new East Ridge Estates subdivision. We are very concerned about how these changes will affect our neighborhood in regards to home values, traffic, impact on schools, ect. We have lived at the above address for 29 years and the main reason we bought our home was the fact that it was a rural area and everyone was required to have a minimum of 5 acres. We realized that the area would eventually change from 5 acre lots but were in hopes that the ridge where the proposed East Ridge Estates is planned would at least be no greater density than the Black Rock Subdivision which is R-4 with higher end houses in order to keep consistent with the view properties. The change to zoning will affect a very large area not far from my house. Higher density will greatly reduce the value and ascetics of this pristine area. I call it pristine because of the spacious area along with panoramic views of Bogus Basin and the Owyhees. By changing the zoning to R8 it seems the only advantage would be to increase the profits of the developer and possible tax base. Within a half mile of the proposed development there is plenty of R8 development in the lower flat lands such as Hill Century Farms Development and other undeveloped tracks of land. 2 Sincerely, Scott & Shelby Moore This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. www.avast.com
